FG AGREEMENT WITH ASUU ON HER STIKE ACTION.

ASUU TO RESOLVE HER STRIKE ACTION SOONEST. The Federal Government has reached an agreement with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), two months after the union embarked on strike. Addressing journalists on Monday evening after the meeting with the striking lecturers in Abuja, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the majority of their demands have been met including the release of N15.4 billion for payment of salary shortfalls. According to him, the Federal Government is also in the process of releasing another N20 billion for payment of earned allowances for university lecturers. Regarding the ongoing strike, ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said the National Executive Committee of the union will review their decisions based on the new commitment by the government. According to him, it is only after that meeting of the ASUU leadership that the union will announce its position on the ongoing strike action.

Saraki ‘hits’ Buhari, exposes massive fraud in oil sector Senate President Bukola Saraki has alleged that there is massive fraud within the oil sector, with the knowledge of President Muhammadu Buhari. In an interview with Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye, which aired on Wednesday night, the Senate President said the Buhari government’s arbitrary payment of subsidy on assumption that Nigeria consumes fifty million litres (50million litres) of fuel a day, is fraudulent. Saraki recalled that under the Jonathan administration, subsidy was based on an assumption that the nation consumes 30million litres of fuel daily. INEC Rejects Ezekwesili’s Withdrawal From Presidential Race The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has said that the withdrawal of the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, Oby Ezekwesili from the presidential race is unacceptable. In a statement by the electoral commission on Thursday,it said 17th November, 2018 was the last day for any candidate to withdraw or be replaced in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections. The statement which was signed by Rotimi Oyekanmi, chief press secretary to the INEC chairman, reads thus: “ It is impossible for any presidential candidate to withdraw from the race now.
